Rafael Polisok
The therapist yelled at me: "You're a brat, you know, after three months you want to change? There are people who have been in 'therapy' for ten years and nothing has changed for them. You don't have an ounce of willpower. That's why you'll never change." One morning, I met my reflection and realized it had become a shadow of my former self.
Rafael's entire world, his friends, the yeshiva, Bnei Akiva, the future, and all his dreams - all hung in the balance of the storm of conversion and its promises. He came to understand that the Haredi community’s constant reminders carried a single message: if he didn’t change, all of this would disappear, erased as though it had never been- this motivated him to enter treatment with all his might.
Rafael is now active in the gay religious community and fights the lie of conversion while presenting an alternative for LGBT people that is both religious, halachic, and gay.
