Prohibition of referring a person for conversion therapy

We, the undersigned rabbis, committed to the law, both mild and severe, believe that according to the principles and spirit of the law, it is forbidden for any person, including a rabbi, including an educator or therapist, to recommend to anyone who contacts them to undergo treatment aimed at changing the applicant's sexual orientation, a treatment known as "conversion therapy." This is because conversion therapy is harmful, not beneficial, and because same-sex attraction is not a mental problem.
